We had a 24-hour port stop in Bermuda on Friday and got in some much needed rest and relaxation. We had some people there to pick up samples from the first part of the cruise, one planned scientist switch, and some Knorr crew member changes. We were all anxiously waiting on deck when we arrived that morning waiting to be cleared by customs and then went straight to the beach. It was an overcast day but the water was warm enough for a nice swim. I had some time to explore St. George’s and have a nice dinner on land. We ended the day at BIOS (Bermuda Institute of Oceanography) where one of the scientists working with the GEOTRACES program is based. We got to meet other faculty members from the station as well as visiting researchers and other students. Overall it was a great day and nice break for the middle of the cruise!
