As we approach each station the chief scientists work together to formulate a plan by scheduling an order of events. The length of each event will vary depending on sampling depths and turn-around time is also factored in. Schedules are always written in an erasable fashion because they are always changing; one minor 30 minute set back can alter an entire day. In the main lab the schedule is written on a white board recorded by a live feed camera called the “project cam.” The feed is accessible online so sleepy scientists can check for updates before crawling out of their bunks and ascending to the main deck. Below is a screen shot of our plan as it currently stands, sampling happens around the clock, science never sleeps!
